  4. Prepare 25 gm cashews chopped

  6. Prepare 1-2 drops Mitha Ithar
  7. Make ready 1 tsp Kewra water

Steps to make Chana Dal Halwa:
  1. Soak dal for few hours till it is soft. Then strain and put in a mixer grinder jar along with half cup water and grind it into a fine paste.
  2. Chop the cashew, heat ghee in the kadai and fry the cashew first till they are light brown in color. In the same ghee add the Chana dal paste and bhunno or roast it till you get a nice roasted aroma and the ghee starts oozing out (it will take around 20 minutes in medium low heat), then add milk and cook for another 5 minutes or so.add the Cardamom powder, Mitha ithar, kewra water and rose water/ essence too.
  3. Then add the mawa/ khowa/khoya and mix it properly and cook for another 3-5 minutes.then add the sugar and mix well, as the sugar melts the halwa will thin down a bit.bhunno it till the ghee starts oozing out.add half the cashew and mix well and your Halwa is ready to be served.put it in a serving bowl and garnish with the remaining cashew.I love when the halwa is warm.
